1877-1973. English cricketer. He took more
wickets than anyone else in the game - 4,187
wickets 1898-1930 - and also scored 39,802
first-class runs. Playing for Yorkshire,
Rhodes made a record 763 appearances in the
county championship. He took 100 wickets in a
season 23 times and completed the `double' of
1,000 runs and 100 wickets in a season 16
times (both records). He played his 58th and
final game for England, against the West
Indies 1930, when he was 52 years old, the
